( this is far from the beginning of a sort of comradery between them, but. it could be, in so many ways, much worse than... whatever this all is between them.

he touches at his jaw with a gloved finger — tastes the familiar metallic notes there in his mouth from the blood. bit his tongue, he thinks. he's dealt with far worse in terms of blood and bruises. honestly, this is a whole lot of nothing in comparison to anything back in gotham and he's sure the same goes for his counterpart.

still, they both seem to take a moment for themselves, adrenaline slowly beginning to fade from mind and muscles and he leans himself there against the workbench a little as he listens to his advice in moving forward with their children. because his counterpart has had the years to experience it while he? has only had a little more than almost two years with a few gaps in between give or take and even then. it's different. the other man trained them. he hasn't. it makes for frustrating moments when he's still trying to ground himself as being the batman while simultaneously having to also learn how to be a sort of parent figure, too. it hasn't been easy but he figures it hadn't been all that much either for his counterpart. their paths with it all is just... different. especially here.

it's only after a moment that he looks over to the other man there and he's quiet in doing so. )

Guess we've both got our hands full.
