Well... I didn't mention you. ( bruce wayne, he means. ) I just said Robin is my friend and Batman is his dad, so.

( gently, he deflates a little but also, he knows how damian is and he's heard enough from his dad about damian's dad and how he can be, so. he leaves it. but because he knows how damian is, he can't help but feel the need to ask. )

Uh... are you ok?

( being here all by himself, while on the surface seems normal for someone like damian's dad, it's also not, given how things have been back home and all. )

[ No. He hasn't slept. He hasn't eaten. He's exhausted, hurting, drowning in guilt. ]

[solarson]

( typical response from a bat, yeah. he doesn't want to push it, but. well. )

I can pick something up from that Kwik Trip around here. Or I saw they have a Big Belly Burger here. I can be pretty quick.

( implying he can fly out and bring something back to eat for bruce, yeah. )

Don't. You just said Lex is here.

[ And Bruce would not be responsible for this kid getting hurt. ]

I am fine, Jon. I will eat soon.

[solarson]

( at that, he holds his chin up some as he looks to bruce. )

I'm not going to just stay in the apartments. There's missions to do and Damian needs me, too. I told my dad that Lex might be his responsibility, but he's everyone's problem here. Even mine.

[theknightshift]

Don't break cover for me. If you want to stay hidden, use your powers only when you need to.

[ At least until he gets his hands on his glasses. ]

[solarson]

( hands going to rest on his hips, he huffs a little. )

I wasn't going to just show off every chance I get. But you also can't just go out and deal with him on your own either.

[theknightshift]

[ Jon. ]

I know how to deal with Luthor. Your focus is staying safe.

[solarson]

( mr. wayne. )

I know how to be safe. Damian and I wouldn't be partners if neither of us knew how to.

[theknightshift]

Then act like it. There's no reason to lose the element of surprise, if Luthor doesn't know you even exist.

[ Is this kid even listening to him? ]

[solarson]

So what are you saying? I shouldn't be Superboy?

[theknightshift]

That you shouldn't be taking unnecessary risks.

[ So. Yeah, basically. Jon asked for his advice. ]

[solarson]

I can't do that.

( arms fly open in disbelief. )

You said yourself that there's missions that need to be done here and I'm supposed to prove home is worth saving. I can't turn my back on any of that no more than you can.

[theknightshift]

I said not to take unnecessary risks. That's it.

[solarson]

( somehow this feel ironic coming from batman and yes, even at his age, he's aware of that. his mom does say things after all. so does his dad. )

( geez. )

But why are you here and not at the manor with Damian?

[theknightshift]

[ He'll let it go at that then. He almost sends Jon on his way instead of answering the question, but he's in no position to make a Super do anything. No kryptonite and two busted ribs. He'd have to navigate this kid out of his living room carefully. ]

I'm working on something. Not your problem.

[solarson]

Do you need any help?

( yes he heard the it’s not his problem but he will still offer to help ok. )

[theknightshift]

No. It's handled.

[ He has no idea where those bombs are. Haha. It's fine. ]

[solarson]

Ok.

( he’s not sure if he believes that or not, but. well. he’s not about to argue batman. not on whether or not he needs help with… whatever he’s doing. turning to take his leave because, well. that’s really all he came here for, he stops then and looks back over to bruce. )

Um… thanks. For listening, I mean. And when you feel like you want to talk to my mom and dad here, they have separate apartments in this building. I’m sure you can find them.

( because he’s batman. )

[ Bruce nods. Meeting Clark is inevitable. He's dealt with enough multiversal shenanigans to know they'll cross paths eventually. Jon doesn't have to worry about that.

He doesn't get up to see Jon off as he turns to leave. ]

( nodding, he goes to leave again but... stops again, looking over his shoulder back to bruce. )

Thanks for remembering me. I mean... it's nice that you do.

( he'd rather his parents or damian, but. he'll take what he can get. )
